NIA Assumes Control of Pahalgam Terror Attack Investigation

New Delhi, April 27: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has officially taken over the investigation into the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, officials confirmed on Sunday.
A team comprising an Inspector General of Police, a Deputy Inspector General, and a Superintendent of Police from the NIA is leading the probe. They are meticulously questioning eyewitnesses to reconstruct the sequence of events surrounding Tuesdayโs deadly assault in Baisaran valley, located in Jammu and Kashmirโs Pahalgam area.
Investigators are carefully examining entry and exit points to understand the terroristsโ movements and methods, officials added. Supported by forensic and other specialists, NIA teams are thoroughly combing the site for critical evidence to unravel the conspiracy behind the brutal attack that has left the country in shock.
Since Wednesday, NIA personnel have been stationed at the attack location, intensifying their search for leads. The agency took charge of the investigation following directives from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
The attack occurred on Tuesday when terrorists opened fire at Baisaran, a well-known tourist destination in the upper reaches of Pahalgam, Anantnag district, resulting in the deaths of 26 people, most of them tourists from other parts of India.
