KATHUA, AUGUST 01: As a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration, the already set-in awareness campaign, was carried forward by the Social Forestry Division Kathua the other day, by organising  Vanmahotsav plantation drive and interaction sessions in different Panchayats of Block Nagrota Gujru and Block Mandli in Billawar.

The program witnessed the presence of the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Director Social Forestry Department, J&K, Roshan Jaggi; DDC member Nagrota Gujru, Narayan Dutt Tripathi; DDC member Mandli, Neeru Bala; BDC member Mandli, Reeta Devi;  Sarpanches & Chairpersons and members of the Village Panchayat Plantation Committees of Panchayats Kah, Sialna, Rajwalta, Kasheer, Mandli and Durang.

In his keynote address, the Pr. CCF/Director, Roshan Jaggi, highlighted the role of the Social Forestry Department in elevating the life of people and improving the livelihood opportunities of people particularly after the strengthening of the Panchayats, post Oct. 2019 and educated them about the recently notified Social Forestry Plantation Rules. The DDC Nagrota Narayan Dutt appreciated the Plantation cum awareness campaigns launched by the Department and assured every support in its future endeavors.

During the awareness campaign, Plantation drives and free Plant distribution camps were organized by the Social Forestry Department at Durga Mandir, Hari Prabhu Sansthan, Nagrota Gujru and Mandli Gowshala. The Mandli- Kishenpur Tree guard ornamental strip plantation work was also inaugurated by the DDC-Mandli and the Pr. CCF/Director.
