Terrorist Hideout Discovered in Poonch; Explosives and Communication Equipment Recovered

MENDHAR/JAMMU, May 5: Security forces uncovered a terrorist hideout in the forests of Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir, recovering five improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and two wireless communication sets, according to officials on Monday.
The IEDs, ranging from 0.5 kg to 5 kg and ready for use, were safely destroyed on-site, preventing potential attacks in the border region. The joint operation was carried out by the Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Special Operations Group on Sunday evening in the Suranthal area of Surankote.
Officials reported that two of the IEDs were concealed in steel buckets, while the remaining three were hidden in tiffin boxes. Additional items recovered from the site included five packets of urea, a five-litre gas cylinder, a binocular, three woolen caps, three blankets, some trousers, and kitchen utensils.
