DC Kathua reviews achievements under Agriculture, allied Sectors
KATHUA, MAY 23: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rahul Pandey today reviewed the achievements under the Agriculture and allied sectors here at a meeting held in the Conference Hall of DC office Complex today.
Emphasizes on farmer centric approach, innovative practices
At the outset, the CAO gave an overview of the progress made in the Agriculture sector under different schemes. He also apprised the DC about the cropping pattern, status of issuance of Kisan Credit Cards, Soil Health Cards etc
Regarding the Soil Health Card scheme, the Deputy Commissioner advised the officers to motivate the farmers to get their soil tested as it helps them improve the health of different crops grown by them. He directed the CAO to explore the possibility of using triple crop in the district. He also called for laying emphasis on sensitisation of farmers and modifying the farmers’ behavior for cropping pattern as per the content/nature of Soil.
The DC further asked the concerned departments to educate the farmers about the initiatives launched by the Government for development of agriculture and allied sectors.
The DC also directed for preparing Season wise cropping map of the district.
The schemes like PMKMY, PMFBY, FPOs, PMFME, Apiculture Development Schemes etc were also discussed at length.
The DC also reviewed the progress of the Fisheries, Animal and Sheep Husbandry Department, Horticulture and other allied sectors.
He also laid stress on adopting innovative practices so as to enhance farmer’s remuneration with better production and providing alternative sources of income to them in line with PM’S vision of Doubling Farmers’ income.
He also directed officers from KVK Kathua to extend all scientific support to the farmers so that they can get maximum output from their produce.
