REASI, NOVEMBER 12: Chairperson DDC, Reasi Saraf Singh Nag today reviewed the progress of work on Railway project and land acquisition cases in view of ensuing visit of Union ministers to the district, here at a meeting of senior officers of district administration and Railway authorities.

During the meeting, the Chairperson DDC took stock of the progress of the prestigious USBRL (Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Line) Project besides resolving multiple issues hindering the pace of work.

A detailed discussion was held on Land compensation  about which ADC Reasi informed that the land measuring 7949 Kamal 03 Marlas has been acquired for the project and the same has been hand over to the Railway, while funds to the tune of Rs 20.06 Crore Stand released.

The Deputy General Manager KRCL furnished the details of the employees engaged in the project by the contractor companies. He said out of total 5713 workers   engaged by the contractor agencies 2690 are from district Reasi.

 The meeting decided that the District Statistics and Evaluation officer shall seek detailed report of all the employees engaged by the executing agencies and submit the same to the administration at its earliest.

It was observed that the Railway project executing agencies has taken land on lease from the private parties at their own level on certain terms and conditions and it is dumping excavated material at certain sites. The meeting   decided that KRCL shall seek details of the land rented by the executing agencies and same shall ensure that the land is restored to its original position as well as owner.

The BDC chairperson said that the polluted water  and chemicals coming out of the tunnels has damaged  the agricultural land. The meeting decided to direct the XeN Irrigation Division Dharmari to check the quality of the water and submit the report on it as early as possible.

       The Committee will check the damage done to the huge chunk of the Agricultural land at village Bakkal due to poor drainage and muck dumping by the contractors and SRM. โ€œThe same committee will ascertain the extent of damage to Agriculture land & health of ecology as a whole in the village Bakkal,โ€ the meeting was told.

The meeting also expressed concern over the rising water level at Anji Nallah due to muck dumping by the railways, causing threat to the irrigated land and houses alongside the stream. It decided that  DMO will personally visit the site along with Tehsildar Reasi to take stock of the situation and submit a detailed report after analysing the spot position.

The Railway authorities were assured full support from the District Administration in the completion of the prestigious national project.

ADC, Abdul Star, assured Railway authorities of full support from the District Administration to achieve the targets in the completion of the USBRL Project, which will connect Kashmir valley to the rest of the country.

He urged the Railways, IRCON and other construction companies to organise skill training programmes for local youth related to construction  and engineering to enhance their employability .

DDC Chairperson, Saraf Singh Nag informed the participants that to resolve the issues for hassle-free construction District Administration will continue to hold periodic virtual as well as manual meets to redress any issues on priority with regard to the prestigious project.
