Wanted Criminal Linked to Royal Singh Gang Arrested in Jammu After 11-Month Hunt

Jammu, Dec 14: A wanted criminal associated with the Royal Singh gang was arrested in Jammu on Sunday after remaining absconding for nearly 11 months, police said.

The accused, Mohd Ayaz alias Shantoo, a resident of Gujjar Nagar, was on the run for almost a year in connection with a criminal case registered earlier this year.

Acting on specific and credible inputs, a police team carried out a swift operation and apprehended him from a hotel in the Jewel Chowk area of the city, a police spokesperson said.

Police said the arrested man is a history-sheeter and a habitual offender who has been involved in nearly a dozen serious criminal cases since 2013.

A case related to his activities was registered at a city police station earlier this year, and further legal proceedings are underway.
