SKUAST-K helps Govt School Durbal to modernize science laboratory

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 24: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) today helped Government Secondary School Durbal, Budgam in establishing a new science laboratory.
This initiative is part of the University’s school outreach initiative under the DBT Star College program.
The program, led by the University’s Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry Shuhama, aims to promote science education and inspire young students to pursue careers in science. As part of this effort, the University provided essential lab equipment and supplies to the school under the DBT Star college program and donated by the Division of Veterinary Epidemiology & Preventive Medicine.
At the inauguration, Prof Riaz Ahmad Shah, Dean of the Veterinary Faculty, highlighted SKUAST-K’s dedication to societal development. He emphasised that by providing these resources, the University hopes to create an enabling learning environment and give students a glimpse into the world of advanced scientific research.
The initiative also featured a hands-on session where students and staff learned how to use new equipment and perform basic scientific experiments. The students of the school interacted with the scientific team of the SKUAST-K.
Principal of the school, Shahida Bano, expressed her gratitude, noting that the new lab will be instrumental in inspiring more students to take interest in science.
The program was jointly organised by the Divisions of Veterinary Epidemiology & Preventive Medicine and Veterinary Microbiology & Immunology of the University.
