Seva Parv: ULB, Distt admin organize PMAY-U Angikaar 2025 – PM Awas Mela (Shehri) at Kulgam

KULGAM, SEPTEMBER 24: Urban Local Bodies (ULB) Kulgam, in collaboration with district administration Kulgam today organized the PMAY-U Angikaar 2025 – PM Awas Mela (Shehri) at the Conference Hall of Mini Secretariat Kulgam.
The programme was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir in the presence of ADDC, ADC, Lead Bank Manager, senior officers from line departments, school children, PMAY-U beneficiaries, and citizens.
Marking the ongoing Sewa Parv campaign, the event witnessed a series of impactful activities including essay and painting competitions, cleanliness drives, plantation drives, and awareness programmes.
During the event, keys of houses under the PMAY-U scheme were distributed to beneficiaries under the Angikaar Abhiyan – Ghar Pravesh.
Speaking on the occasion, DC highlighted the significance of PMAY-U in ensuring Housing for All in Urban Areas and directed allied departments to provide all essential facilities including drinking water, electricity, and gas connections under Ujjwala to the beneficiaries.
In his address, DC appreciated the efforts of ULB Kulgam and other departments in mobilizing the community, emphasizing that the vision of PMAY-U can only be realized through active public participation. He stressed that the programme aims to provide quality, affordable, and inclusive housing with convergence of basic amenities and sustainable practices.
As part of Swachhta Hi Seva, Municipal Council Kulgam reinforced the ban on Single-Use Plastics (SUP) in marketplaces, sensitized vendors to adopt eco-friendly alternatives like cloth bags, and carried out door-to-door plastic collection drives to promote sustainable urban living.
Animal Husbandry and allied departments showcased modern sheep rearing techniques, advanced wool processing, and sustainable livestock management practices. On the occasion, 30 sheep husbandry tool kits for Namda Sazi were distributed among beneficiaries, while nine chopans were provided with highland pasture tents and PP sheets under HADP.
On the health front, stalls on family health, nutrition, immunization, and child health were set up in the Mini Secretariat compound, benefiting scores of people.
Earlier, DC inspected stalls installed by departments including Horticulture, Industries, KPDCL, Animal Husbandry, Social Welfare, KPDCL, Health, and the Municipal Council.
Nodal officer Sewa Parv, ADDC Altaf Ahmad Khan also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the coordination of different departments in making the festival a grand success.
Several other departments also carried out scheduled activities, ensuring large-scale participation and continuity of the Sewa Parv spirit across the district.
The mela also featured a symbolic ‘Run for House’ rally and a Plantation Drive. An essay and painting competition on the theme ‘Housing for All and My Dream House’ was organized among school children, with the best-performing students receiving awards and mementos.
Beneficiaries of constructed and under-construction houses shared their experiences during the Griha Pravesh segment, while the Best PMAY-U House Award was presented to recognize exemplary construction.
The event concluded with a collective pledge to strengthen the objectives of PMAY-U Angikaar 2025 across urban areas of the district, blending innovation, community participation, and awareness for a cleaner and healthier society.
