Seva Parv: Multi public welfare, cleanliness, plantation initiatives in full swing in Rajouri

RAJOURI, SEPTEMBER 18: In continuation of the ongoing ‘Sewa Parv’ being observed across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir from 17-09-2025 to 02-10-2025, different departments organized a series of community-focused activities in Rajouri district on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma.
The Deputy Commissioner participated in a plantation drive held at Danidhar, Rajouri, reiterating the administration’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development.
The departments undertook multiple initiatives aimed at public welfare and awareness. Health camps were established by the Health Department, providing essential medical services to the residents. The Labour Department conducted awareness sessions regarding various welfare schemes of the Jammu and Kashmir Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board (JKBOCWB). Extensive cleanliness drives, including the cleanliness of school premises and public spaces, were carried out with active community participation.
Events focused on farmers included dissemination of information on government agricultural welfare schemes such as the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP). The ‘Mission Yuva’ was also promoted to encourage youth engagement. Solid waste management received emphasis through mass awareness on waste segregation and door-to-door waste collection drives across the district.
Additionally, drug awareness programmes were conducted in different schools aiming to sensitize students towards the ill-effects of substance abuse and promote healthy living. Cleanliness drives were also carried out in school premises. Other activities like awareness on digital literacy, AB-PMJAY, Social security schemes, registration under PMMVY were also carried out with added zeal in Rajouri.
The Sewa Parv serves as a platform where service to the nation finds expression through culture, art, heritage, knowledge sharing and inclusive community engagement. It will encompass diverse areas such as cultural heritage, women-led progress, care for general health and wellbeing, environmental stewardship, innovation and empowerment of marginalized communities.
Meanwhile, multiple activities were organized across different municipalities of the district as part of the ongoing Seva Parv campaign, focusing on welfare, awareness, sanitation and outreach.
In Municipal Council Thannamandi, a Health Check-up Camp for Sanitation Workers was organised in collaboration with the AYUSH and Health Departments where free medicines were also distributed.
Furthermore, MC staff sensitized street vendors about the benefits and provisions of the PM SVANidhi scheme, aimed at empowering small vendors through collateral-free working capital loans.
In addition, Joint teams of MC Thannamandi and Jal Shakti collected water samples from local springs and raised awareness on cleanliness and water conservation.
The PMAY-Urban team promoted awareness on housing schemes, encouraged households to fast-track construction, organized Grih Pravesh ceremonies, and disseminated information about Angikaar 2025 and the PM Surya Ghar program.
A dedicated cleanliness campaign was conducted in the market area with active support from market shopkeepers, prominent citizens, and former ward members. Waste collection and awareness on waste segregation were carried out.
Similarly, in Municipal Council Kalakote, the PMAY-Urban team undertook an outreach campaign to promote PMAY, Angikaar 2025, and the PM Surya Ghar program. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Government for ensuring last-mile outreach under the Housing for All initiative.
