Search Operation Continues to Hunt Down Terrorists in J&K’s Kishtwar

Jammu, Nov 6: Security forces have launched a massive cordon and search operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district to locate two to three terrorists suspected to be hiding in the dense forests, officials said on Thursday.
The operation was initiated after an encounter broke out in the heavily forested Chatru area on Wednesday, during which a soldier was injured.
Sources indicate that the terrorists involved are believed to be of Pakistani origin.
“The search operation is still in progress to locate the hiding terrorists. No exchange of fire has taken place since yesterday afternoon,” a senior security officer stated.
Drones and sniffer dogs have been deployed to assist the troops, while additional reinforcements have been sent to tighten the cordon, the official added.
Security forces have been keeping a close watch on militant movements in the region, which has seen several clashes in recent months.
Kishtwar has witnessed six encounters in the last seven months as forces continue their intensified operations against Pakistan-based terrorists active in the area bordering Doda and Udhampur districts.
