Sainik Welfare Department holds workshop on Career in Armed Forces for Women
JAMMU, NOVEMBER 04: The Sainik Welfare Department J&K organized an awareness campaign in the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, R.S Pura, the other day.
The students and staff were informed about various career options open to the girl students with special focus on the career in the Indian Armed Forces for the women.
Director Sainik Welfare Department, Brigadier Gurmeet Singh Shan, in his elaborate address exhorted the girl students to study hard and exploit the power of internet to the optimum to learn details of various career avenues, eligibility criteria, scholarships and government schemes. He informed the gathering that the focus of the visit was towards creating awareness amongst the citizens and avenues for women empowerment. The Director also presented a certificate to the school management for their efforts towards raising the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund which is used for the welfare of ex-servicemen and widows.
The students listened with rapt attention and keenly participated in an interaction session that followed. The function concluded with a vote of thanks by Principal, Manmeet Bali.
The Principal thanked the Director, Sainik Welfare Department for his efforts towards spreading awareness about Armed Forces and for women empowerment.
