Russia Claims to Have Downed 160 Ukrainian Drones in a Day

Moscow, Aug 24: The Russian Defence Ministry said its forces intercepted four guided aerial bombs and 160 Ukrainian drones in the past 24 hours. According to the ministry, air defence systems destroyed 33 drones over Russia’s western border regions, including 12 in Bryansk and one in Kaluga, between 9:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. (Moscow Time). Another 20 drones were shot down within the next two hours — eight in Bryansk, seven in Smolensk, three in Kursk and two in Kaluga.
Russia has accused Ukraine of intensifying strikes ahead of the upcoming summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska. The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that drone and shelling attacks over the past week killed 22 people and injured 105 in border regions.
