Restoration work on Katra-Jammu-Kathua rail track in full swing, 4 trains to resume soon

Jammu, Sep 11: Over 250 workers are engaged in restoring the flood-hit Katra-Jammu-Kathua rail track, with officials expecting four major train services to restart soon. Railway Safety Commissioner Dinesh Chandra Deswal inspected damaged bridges, including Bridge No. 232 on the Chakki River, and directed speedy repairs.

Train operations in Jammu, Punjab, and Himachal were badly affected by flash floods since August 26. While special relief trains ferried stranded passengers, officials confirmed that Swaraj Express, Pooja Express, Vande Bharat Express, and Andaman Express will resume in the next phase.

Flood relief trains have so far transported over 3,000 passengers and essential supplies, providing vital support to affected areas. Authorities said passenger safety is the top priority as restoration continues on a “war footing.”
