SRINAGAR, MAY 02: Registrar Cooperative Societies J&K today organized a day long workshop on seeking suggestions regarding amalgamation of Jammu & Kashmir Cooperative Societies Act, 1989 and the J&K Self Reliant Cooperative Act, 1999, which are concurrently in force in the UT of J&K at present.

Registrar Cooperative Societies J&K, Shafqat Iqbal presided over the workshop which was attended by Deputy Registrars, Assistant Registrars, members of Cooperative Societies and senior officers of Cooperative department.

Sensing the importance of amalgamating both the Cooperative Acts, the Government in Cooperative Department has already constituted a committee for the purpose, so as to assimilate best provisions out of the existing Acts, clear ambiguity and incorporate fruitful provisions in the new Cooperative Act.

In this context, a daylong workshop was recently held on 24th of May 2022 at Jammu as well, where, after brainstorming session of deliberations and discussions, fruitful suggestions were obtained.

Today’s Workshop was a step forward in the same direction, where veteran Cooperators, stalwarts from Cooperative fraternity, legal luminaries, experts on the subject and galaxy of officers from the Kashmir Division talked extensively on the subject matter. They put forth some valuable suggestions to be incorporated in the new Cooperative Act and also spoke on different proposals as a way forward for accomplishing the amalgamation process.

Registrar Cooperative Societies J&K on the occasion emphasized for the need to involve more and more experts on the subject and seek their suggestions, so that a comprehensive people friendly Act is drafted that addresses all the present day and future requirements.
