#Rajouri: DLSC approves 02 cases under restructured SMAS
RAJOURI, MAY 21: District Level Screening Committee today approved two cases of eligible women beneficiaries under the Restructured State Marriage Assistance Scheme here at its meeting chaired by District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal.
Among the others, PO ICDS, Kartar Singh; DSWO, Wakeel Ahmed Bhatt; AD FCS&CA, Arief Lone and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Govt has introduced some changes in the SMAS and as per the changes in the scheme, any girl of legally marriageable age, belonging to AAY or PHH ration card-holder family will be eligible for one-time assistance of Rs 50,000.
The help will be given before her marriage, for which she will be required to apply at least a month in advance.
The Committee, after examining all the files received online and after detailed deliberations, approved 02 cases.
Addressing the officers in the meeting, the DC said that through this scheme, the Government was lending a helping hand to the poor families who could not afford to marry their daughters.
Underlining the need to cover maximum eligible beneficiaries of the district under the scheme, he asked the concerned officer from the social welfare department to put in dedicated efforts to reach out to the eligible beneficiaries.
