Principal Secretary #Jal Shakti tours Jammu city; Assesses water supply scenario

JAMMU, MAY 18: Principal Secretary, Jal Shakti Department, Ashok Kumar Parmar, on Wednesday conducted an extensive tour of Jammu city to assess water supply scenario in the area.

Principal Secretary was accompanied by Chief Engineer, Jal Shakti (PHE) Department, Jammu, Manesh Bhat, Superintending Engineers Hydraulic Circle, Mechanical Rural Circle, Superintending Engineer and PHE Mechanical Urban Circle besides other senior officers of the department.

During his visit, Principal Secretary inspected Filtration Plants at Sitlee, Dhountly and Boria to take stock of working of these facilities.

Chief Engineer PHE apprised the Principal Secretary of functioning and capacity of these filtration plants besides highlighting various issues faced by the department in maintaining optimum utilization of these filtration plants, especially during rainy season.

Principal Secretary gave on spot instructions to prepare a comprehensive plan for improvement and augmentation of these filtration plants.

Principal Secretary also visited the raw water intake structure of water supply scheme of Jagti Township in Nagrota, which is proposed to be taken over by the Jal Shakti (PHE) department soon. He was informed that a joint team of Relief Organization and Jal Shakti (PHE) department is in the process of making assessment of existing infrastructure to be taken over by the Jal Shakti (PHE) Department.

He directed the Engineers to ensure that thorough technical assessment of the scheme is made to ensure its sustainability  and smooth functioning for providing  adequate  water supply to the dwellers of Jagti Township for Kashmir Migrants. 

Principal Secretary also issued directions to the Engineers to make concerted efforts for ensuring regular water supply especially in the water scarce areas keeping in view the hot summer conditions. He asked them to regularly take stock of public grievances concerning their jurisdictions so that no inconvenience is caused to common masses on this account.
