Poonch Campus organized “Farmer Classes”
Poonch January 30 : Poonch Campus , University of Jammu today organized “Farmer Classes” in the Department of Sericulture here today. The aim behind the Farmers Classes is to aware farmers about the Sericulture being an agro based industry is mainly operated by rural masses living in villages.
The rural farmers have long learned and inhereted skills of silkworm rearing and mulberry cultivation.
The Farmers Classes were organized on the direction of Director Poonch Campus, Prof. Dipankar Sengupta who had instructed to organise Farmer classes in the Department of Sericulture.
Students of M.Sc. Sericulture, Semester 1st and 3rd along with the teaching faculty of the Department of Sericulture attended the Farmer
class. The lecture was delivered by an expert farmer named Janab Gulab Din Janyar, Poonch.
The farmer is an expert of silkworm rearing as he used to do Silkworm rearing years back and have been in the silkworm rearing for about 7
years.
Gulab Din delivered a detailed lecture on silkworm rearing, it’s importance, significance and precautions to be taken before and during
rearing. He also interacted with the students and cleared queries of the students. He encouraged the students to participate actively in the same profession.
The lecture and interaction session lasted for 1 hour and the class ended as a successful one with the positive feedback of the students who said that such kind of classes should be arranged on regular basis.
