PM Modi: India Won’t Tolerate Nuclear Threats, ‘Operation Sindoor’ Delivered Unimaginable Blow to Enemy

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed on Friday that India will not accept nuclear threats, declaring that Operation Sindoor dealt the enemy a punishment “beyond imagination.”

In his 12th consecutive Independence Day address from the Red Fort, Modi praised the bravery of Indian soldiers, citing the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack—where militants targeted civilians based on religion—as the trigger for the mission. “Our troops responded with unprecedented force,” he said, adding that Pakistan has suffered massive destruction with new details emerging daily.

After the attack, the government gave the armed forces complete operational freedom. Modi said they struck deep into enemy territory, destroying terrorist headquarters hundreds of kilometres across the border—something “unseen for decades.”

Water Policy Shift
Modi announced that “blood and water will not flow together,” calling the Indus Waters Treaty unfair to Indian farmers. He vowed that water from the Indus system will now be used solely for India’s agriculture.

Self-Reliance as National Strength
Linking Aatmanirbhar Bharat to national power, Modi urged scientists, engineers, and professionals to develop indigenous jet engines for fighter aircraft. He credited domestic defence production for enabling Operation Sindoor’s success and highlighted progress in defence self-sufficiency over the past decade.
