BUDGAM, JUNE 11: A one day programme on ‘Benefits of Golden Card’ was today held at Govt. Degree College Khansahib to raise awareness among the participants regarding the benefits of Golden Card.

Dr. Samiullah, Consultant Surgical Gastroenterologist and Liver Transplant Specialist at Star Hospital Srinagar and an associate with UNICEF presented a comprehensive overview about the benefits of Golden Card.

He highlighted the need for making people aware about this tremendous state intervention in providing social justice and urged students to act as ambassadors in this endeavour.

The resource person claimed that the Star Hospital Srinagar has taken a lead in providing quality services under the scheme. “People need to be clear in their minds that the ‘Golden Card’ facility is completely free and an empanelled hospital cannot reject patients on one pretext or the other. The Govt. of India is improving over the scheme by increasing the amount under different components, he said.

At the beginning, Dr. Syed Tanvir Indrabi, Principal GDC Khansahib, laid emphasis on positive thinking and the need for outreach to the needy and impoverished people.

A memento was presented to Dr. Samiullah by the Principal.

A vibrant question-answer session was conducted at the end of the programme. The faculty and students shared their varied experiences with empanelled hospitals and received satisfactory answers from learned people.
