No Order to Unblock TikTok, Clarifies Govt

New Delhi, Aug 23: The Government of India has denied issuing any directive to lift the ban on Chinese social media platform TikTok, official sources confirmed on Friday.

The clarification came after some users reported being able to access TikTok’s website on desktop browsers, sparking speculation about its return.

“The government has not passed any order to unblock TikTok. Any such claims are false and misleading,” a source said.

TikTok, along with 58 other Chinese apps including UC Browser and Shein, was banned in June 2020 following the Galwan Valley clashes. Later, more apps, including PUBG, were also blocked. Authorities said all such platforms remain restricted under the government’s order.
