NC Wins 3 Rajya Sabha Seats, BJP Secures 1 in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 24: The National Conference (NC) emerged as the dominant force in the Jammu and Kashmir Rajya Sabha elections, winning three of the four available seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) managed to secure one.
NC candidates Chowdhary Ramzan, Sajjad Kichloo, and Shammi Oberoi clinched victories, reinforcing the party’s strong position in the newly formed alliance with Congress, PDP, CPI(M), and independents.
BJP’s Sat Sharma won the fourth seat, securing 32 votes—four more than the party’s strength of 28 in the Assembly—indicating cross-voting in his favor.
With this outcome, the NC-led alliance has further consolidated its political standing in the region, while the BJP’s win underscores a small but significant breach in the opposition ranks.
