National Farmers’ Day celebrated across Kathua
KATHUA, DECEMBER 23: National Farmers’ Day or Kissan Diwas was celebrated with enthusiasm across all panchayats of the District Kathua to honor the birth anniversary of the fifth Prime Minister of India, Choudhary Charan Singh Ji and recognise farmers as the backbone of this country.
At a function held at Nagri, Chairman BDC Nagri Khazan Chand appreciated the Department of Agriculture Kathua functioning under Chief Agriculture Officer Kathua Sanjeev Rai Gupta, for extending all possible help and technical support provided to the farmers time to time. He appealed the farmers to Agriculture field functionaries working at panchayat level for better outcome.
Chief Agriculture Officer, Kathua threw light on the Farmer’s Day which aimed at to promote awareness of the contribution farmers make to the society. He brief the farmers about the on-going scheme of Agriculture Department such as Mushroom Cultivation / Apiculture / Exotic Vegetable / Organic Farming / Use of Modern Machinery for effective sowing of seasonal crop etc. and with assured prompt technical support by the Department of Agriculture Production Farmers Welfare Kathua. He also state that the department is working comprehensively to mitigate the problem of the farmers, thereby strengthening the economic scenario of the farming community.
Anil Andotra (Member HADP Scheme) hailed Chief Agriculture Officer, Kathua for its unceasing support and asked the farmers to liaison with Agriculture Department to get the maximum benefits of the operational scheme. He also gave brief on the importance of 29 project under HADP which will be a game changer in changing the overall agriculture scenario of the region. KVK, Head & Senior Scientist Vishal Mahajan gave introductory lecture on Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) and brief the farmers about underline importance of the project which has recently launched by GOI.
Ranjit Singh, Sarpanch Mirpur Ram/Birbal Kumar, Sarpanch Ghoond thanked the department of Agriculture for its continuous support and appealed the farmers to liaison with the field functionaries of the department at panchayat level for better outcome.
