Motorcyclist Caught with Heroin(Chita) During Naka Checking in Kanachak area of Jammu

In a continued effort to curb the menace of drug trafficking, a naka party of Police Station Kanachack apprehended a drug peddler during routine vehicle checking on the Ring Road this evening.A motorcycle bearing registration number JK02CX3161, coming from the Jammu side, was signaled to stop. However, the rider attempted to flee upon spotting the police team. The alert personnel swiftly intercepted the vehicle and apprehended the motorcyclist on the spot.
The accused was identified as Mohd Mushtaq, son of Tariq Hussain, a resident of Banera, Tehsil Ramban, currently residing at Troti Khad, Jourian.
During a search of the motorcycle, the police recovered 3.5 grams of heroin like substance (commonly known as Chitta), which had been concealed in a leather cover affixed to the motorcycle’s fuel tank. The rider failed to provide any satisfactory explanation for the possession of the contraband.
A case under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Police Station Kanachack, and further investigation is underway.
Police have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on drug smuggling and have urged citizens to report any suspicious activities in their areas.
