Man Wanted in Rash Driving Case Arrested in Rajouri After Return From Saudi Arabia

Jammu, Sep 9: Police in Rajouri district on Monday arrested a man accused in a 2022 rash driving case soon after his return from Saudi Arabia, officials said.
The accused has been identified as Mumtaz Ahmed of Thanamandi, who had been absconding since the incident. He was booked under Section 279 IPC (rash driving), Section 304-A IPC (causing death by rash driving), and provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act related to driving without insurance.
Police said that after the investigation, a chargesheet was filed in court, but Ahmed fled abroad. Subsequently, warrants were issued against him in November 2022, and proceedings were initiated to attach his immovable property.
Officials said Ahmed returned after realizing that his property could be seized. Acting swiftly, police detained him upon arrival and produced him before the court for further legal action.
