Light to Moderate Rains Forecast in Jammu Division Till Sept 11: IMD

Srinagar, Sept 7: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday issued a weather advisory predicting light to moderate rainfall with thundershowers across several districts of the Jammu division till September 11.

As per the forecast, Jammu, Kathua and Udhampur may witness heavy showers at isolated places on Sept 7 and 8, particularly during evening and night hours, which could trigger localized flooding and landslides in hilly terrains.

For Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban, the IMD has predicted cloudy conditions with light to moderate rains on Sept 7–8, while the weather is expected to improve gradually from Sept 9 onwards.

Officials have cautioned residents in landslide-prone areas to stay alert. Travelers on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway and other interior routes have also been advised to plan their journeys carefully and follow traffic advisories.

Meanwhile, the IMD has asked farmers to protect standing crops from waterlogging, and urged ki hai tourists and locals to avoid riverbanks, streams, and unstable slopes until the weather clears.

The department said it is monitoring the situation closely and that any changes in the forecast will be updated through fresh advisories.
