Light Showers Likely in J&K; No Major Weather Activity Till Sept 12: MeT

Srinagar, Sept 6: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Friday predicted light to moderate rainfall in parts of Jammu and Kashmir over the next few days, while clarifying that no major weather disturbance is expected in the region until September 12.

As per the forecast, a short spell of rain or thunder may occur at some locations on September 6. On September 7–8, scattered to fairly widespread light showers with occasional thunder are likely, with a chance of moderate rain in parts of the Jammu division, especially during late night and early morning hours. Between September 9–12, only isolated and brief spells of rain or thundershowers are expected.

The department has cautioned about the risk of landslides and shooting stones in vulnerable areas, urging residents to avoid riverbanks, nallahs and unstable structures.

Meanwhile, the advisory encouraged farmers to resume agricultural work from today, adding that paddy harvesting can begin from September 9 onwards.
