Light Rain, Snow Likely in J&K; MET Predicts Temperature Drop from Nov 5

Srinagar, Nov 3: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Monday forecast generally dry weather across Jammu and Kashmir till November 3, with light to moderate rain and snowfall expected over higher reaches between November 4 and 5.

Director MET Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad said the weather will remain mostly cloudy on November 4 and 5, with chances of rain or snow (over higher altitudes) at many places in Kashmir division and at scattered locations in Jammu division, particularly from the evening of November 4 till the early hours of November 5.

The department predicted that dry weather would return from November 6 to 15, providing a clear spell after the short wet phase.

An advisory issued by the MET Department cautioned that thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) are likely in some areas on the evening of November 4.

Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad added that a notable drop in both day and night temperatures is expected from November 5 onwards. Farmers have been advised to halt agricultural activities on November 4 due to the anticipated weather disturbance.
