Kathua Administration conducts trial use of Drone for agriculture activities
KATHUA, JULY 22: District Administration Kathua today conducted an experimental trial of Drone for Agriculture related activities here at village Balan Pain.
Deputy Commissioner, Rahul Pandey accompanied by BDC Chairman Brijeshwar Singh launched the trial of the Drone for agriculture activity in presence of the local farmers.
The maiden activity carried out by a specialised team through the Agriculture Department included the use for insecticide spray to control the Fall Army Worm in Maize crop and spray of Nano urea through Drone.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner said that use of Drone service is quite beneficial in a lot of ways as it helps farmers for optimising use of insecticide, besides protecting crops from insects. He said the aim behind introducing the Drone technology in the Agriculture sector was to minimise the woes of the farming community in carrying out the agro-activities.
“Some farming tasks that require hundreds of workers in traditional techniques can be accomplished by a single drone in a matter of hours”, the DC added.
The BDC Chairperson Brijeshwer Singh said the technological intervention in Agriculture will help the farmers to save their time.
Chief Agriculture Officer, Kathua said that use of Drone will play a vital role in curbing the infestation in the crops in an economical manner. He said the Government of India has initiated โONE VILLAGE ONE DRONEโ initiative to minimise the cost of cultivation which is one of the ways to double the income of the farmer.
