J&K Govt Removes Educational Qualification Requirement for Marriage Assistance Scheme

Srinagar, Oct 27: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has removed the minimum educational qualification requirement for availing benefits under the Marriage Assistance Scheme for poor girls.

With this decision, all eligible beneficiaries—regardless of their educational background—can now access financial assistance under the scheme.

Officials said the move aims to broaden the scheme’s coverage and ensure greater social support for economically weaker families across the Union Territory.

The government stated that the revised guidelines will help reach more deserving beneficiaries and uphold the objective of empowering underprivileged women through financial aid at the time of marriage.
