J-K DGP directs police to monitor social media to curb misinformation

Srinagar, Sep 12: Jammu and Kashmir DGP Nalin Prabhat has asked district police heads to keep a close watch on social media platforms to prevent the spread of misinformation that could threaten public safety and order.
Chairing a security review meeting at the Police Control Room in Srinagar on Thursday, the DGP was briefed by zonal inspector generals and other officers on the prevailing security situation, anti-terror operations, and recent challenges.
Prabhat directed intensified surveillance on anti-national elements, greater area domination, and enhanced security around vulnerable targets. He also called for strengthening community policing and public outreach to address rising crime in some areas.
