<strong>Hundreds participate, thousands watch My Youth My Pride sports events across Jammu</strong>

JAMMU, OCTOBER 16: A series of sports activities were held across the district headquarters of the Jammu division in which hundreds of participants were seen competing with each other. The participants were supported by their family, friends, and sports lovers at almost all the venues.

“Sport is a systematic process through which a child acquires knowledge, experience, wisdom, skill and sound attitude to progress in a lifetime”, said Sunaina Sharma, Joint Director of tourism, while addressing the participants of the lawn tennis championship held in M.A Stadium, Jammu.

“The special sports initiative My Youth My Pride has earned national recognition now and this is an acknowledgment of the success of the program at all levels,” she added. 

Sunaina Sharma presided over the function as chief guest. More than 60 players from different clubs of Jammu district took part in the event which was supervised by Satish Gupta, Manager of the Indoor sports complex. 

The chief guest was also apprised about the functioning of 23 indoor sports complexes at the district level besides 40 Khelo India centers and the progress of 948 ongoing sports projects. 

Earlier, the welcome address was presented by Rajiv Sharma, a member of the Sports Council. Others present on the occasion were Deepak Singh Lawn tennis instructor, Vinay Sharma and Divam Gupta, besides players and parents.

Meanwhile, a Tug of War Championship was organized in Government Modern Higher Secondary School, Ramban. 

Kewal Krishan Sharma, the Principal of the school along with Dharamveer Singh, District Sports Officer, Ramban attended the function as special invitees. 

The participants whose number was fifty were very excited to be part of the event.

The Guests, while applauding the efforts of the Sports Council, appreciated the enthusiasm of the students. The Organizing Committee thanked dignitaries adding a note of appreciation for the beauty of the scenic Ramban and the support of locals for conducting the event smoothly.

A Tug of war event was also organized in Islamia  Farida HSS of district Kisthwar.

In other games, a Gatka event was organized in the sports stadium Kathua. Sardar Charanjeet Singh, President of the district Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, along with Sarpanch Kathua and Dr. JS Soodan, Physical Director of Government Degree College Kathua were special guests on the occasion.

In the day-long competition, Dilpreet, Kamalpreet, and Kuljeet won gold, silver, and bronze medals, respectively in the U17 category, while Maanamrit, Harsimran, and Jasdeep bagged first, second and third place in the U19 category.

In the U22 category, Manpreet and Kamaljeet won gold and silver medals, respectively. Ravinder Singh, General Secretary Gatka Association J&K supervised the event technically, while Amarjeet Singh, Lovepreet Singh, Simrandeep Kour, and Taranbeer Singh officiated the matches.

Khelo India Korfball Center along with Sports Council conducted the Korfball event under My Youth My Pride at the sports stadium Samba in which team Vijaypur prevailed over team Samba.

Additional Superintendent of Police Samba, Surinder Choudhary presided over the function as the chief guest. The event was supervised by a team headed by S.P Singh, Manager of MAM Stadium, Jammu, and Manjeet Singh KIC korfball coach officiated.

A Kabaddi competition was also held at GHS, Kund Kanyari, Reasi in which more than 70 participants from different classes of the school participated.
