Reigning Paralympics champion Harvinder Singh and world No. 1 Sheetal Devi led India’s impressive finish at the World Archery Para Series Stage III, with the country winning two gold and four bronze medals on the final day.
Sheetal, the reigning world champion, held her nerve in a dramatic shoot-off to claim gold in the para compound women’s individual event. Harvinder, partnering Bhawna, then helped India secure another gold in the para recurve mixed team event.
In the mixed team final, Harvinder and Bhawna dominated China’s Liang Qiurong and Xia Lei, registering a convincing 6-0 victory. India won the opening set 35-31, followed it with a 36-33 win and completed the clean sweep with a 34-32 victory.
Bhawna later added a bronze medal in the para recurve women’s individual event after defeating compatriot Rajshree Rathod 6-0 in an all-Indian bronze-medal playoff.
Sheetal produced another composed performance in the compound women’s individual final against Kazakhstan’s Aizada Seidan. After the scores were level at 144-144 following five ends, the title was decided in a shoot-off. Sheetal struck a perfect 10, while Aizada managed a nine, handing the Indian the gold.
The victory completed a medal double for Sheetal, who had earlier won bronze alongside Toman Kumar in the compound mixed team event. The Indian pair defeated Iraq’s Sara Al Hamid and Abbas Kadim 157-145 in the bronze-medal playoff.
India also secured bronze in the para compound women’s individual event, with Sarita edging China’s Wang Huiting 141-140.
Toman Kumar added another bronze in the para compound men’s individual event, defeating Iraq’s Abbas Kadhim 143-138. It was his second medal of the competition.
India’s strong medal haul on the final day underlined the country’s growing strength in para archery, with its leading stars delivering under pressure across both individual and team events.
