Govt Primary School Reopens After 25 Years in J-K’s Rajouri

Jammu, Nov 1: A government primary school in Rajouri’s Kewal area has reopened after remaining closed for 25 years due to a land dispute, officials said on Saturday.
The school building had been locked by the landowner in 2000, forcing classes to operate from a rented space with limited facilities.
Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma took note of the issue and directed Chief Education Officer Mohammad Hafeez to visit the site and resolve the dispute on priority.
Following consultations with stakeholders, the matter was settled amicably, allowing the school to resume operations at its original premises.
Students have now been shifted back to the three-room school building, which has been made fully functional.
The reopening has brought relief and joy to the local residents, who praised the district administration’s efforts in restoring access to education for the children of Kewal village.
