Giant Python Captured in Rajouri

Jammu, Sep 23: A massive python weighing nearly 55 kilograms was captured by the wildlife department and police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Tuesday, officials said.

Acting on information from locals, police and wildlife teams rushed to Manpur village in Nowshera tehsil and launched an operation to capture the reptile.

Wildlife official Rajesh Kumar said the python, measuring about four-and-a-half metres, was caught after an hours-long operation. The reptile had killed and swallowed a jackal but later vomited it out, he added.

Officials confirmed that the python will be released back into the forest.
