Chairs meeting with DGM SBI, takes stock of facilities and welfare of SC community

KATHUA, DECEMBER 03: Government Degree College Kathua on Saturday felicitated luminary alumnus, Dr Anju Bala (Ex M.P.), Member, National Commission for Scheduled Castes,  here at a brief ceremony held in the PWD Rest house.

While welcoming Dr Anju Bala, the College Principal, Prof. Sumnesh Jasrotia said Degree College Kathua is one of the oldest Colleges of J&K (UT) and has served various societal needs with long distinction since its inception. “By virtue of its history, legacy, achievements and philosophy, Govt Degree College Kathua enjoys the stature of producing excellent alumni for the country”, he added.

The Principal further said that GDC Kathua is the melting pot of leaders, reformers, innovators and visionaries and Dr. Anju Bala is a living testimony to this. “As we honour Dr. Anju Bala, we beam with pride at all that she has achieved and given back to our nation. It is role models like her who are a lighthouse for future generations. As a renowned alumnus of GDC Kathua, Dr. Anju Bala has made our alma mater proud. She is truly a shining beacon’ the Principal said.

In her address, Dr. Anju Bala said “The College is my extended family and I am always there to support my College.” She further said “I am highly indebted to GDC Kathua from where I passed my graduation with Arts subjects”.

 Dr Anju Bala said that she was a NCC Cadet in the College and attended RD Camp at New Delhi.

While narrating her voyage, Dr Anju Bala said, “My journey proves that one does not need a rich father and old schoolboy network to hitch a wagon to success. What one need is self respect, ethics, commitment, vision and empathy.”

Among others, Dr. Seema Malpotra, Prof. Rajkiran, Prof Jasvinder Singh, Prof Rakesh Singh, Dr. Ritu Bhagat and other faculty members were present.

Dr Anju Bala was born on 6 September 1979 at Kathua, Jammu Kashmir to Ravinder Nath and Trishala Devi. She completed her postgraduate education in Sanskrit at the University of Jammu in 2007. Three years later, she graduated from Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University with a degree in Hindi. She has also completed her PHD in RamcharitManas.

In Her stellar political career, she contested from Misrikh constituency in 2014 Indian general elections and defeated her nearest rival by a margin of 87,363 votes

Earlier, Member NCSC, Dr Anju Bala held a meeting with Deputy General Manager, SBI Jammu Division and other Senior Officials of State Bank of India.

The meeting held detailed deliberations on regional level issues of SCS Employees and implementation of the reservation policy besides issues related to service safeguard in recruitment and promotion and implementation of central and state funded welfare schemes.

Dr. Anju Bala emphasized upon banks to simplify the systems and procedures of loans or credit linkages so that maximum beneficiaries are credit linked under various schemes like Stand up India, Mudra, etc for generation of employment amongst the needy and poor people. She advised banks to focus on awareness programs for dissemination of information to general public/women/SC/ST/farmers/skilled persons so that they are facilitated to set up new units.

The member, NCSC also met a delegation of reserved category employees of SBI and listened to their issues.

The meeting was attended by Director, NCSC Sanjay Kumar Singh, DGM, SBI, Jammu Division, Pawan Kumar, PS to Member, B K Bhola, RM, SBI, Kathua Rajiv Mengi, AGM (FI) Sanjeev Mahajan, SBI, CHD Sanjeev Kumar, SBI CM IR Nipat Bajaj, LDM, Kathua, Amul Bhatia.

Later, the MCSC member also met PRI representatives, including BDC Chairman Hiranagar, Ram Lal Kalia and BDC Chairman Barnoti, Brijeshwar Singh and discussed various issues related to SC community.

The Liaison Officers  (Registrar) Suresh Kumar and DSWO Abdul Rahim presented Basohli paintings as a Souvenir to Dr Anju Bala and S.K Singh on behalf of District Administration.
