Fire Engulfs Residential Houses and Cowsheds in Kupwara Village

Kupwara, Sep 23: A massive fire broke out in Punzwa Vilgam area of Kupwara district last night, gutting several structures and causing heavy damage.

An official from the Fire and Emergency Department said that four residential houses, four cowsheds, and five firewood sheds were completely destroyed in the incident.

Firefighters from six stations, including Vilgam, Kralpora, Kupwara, Trehgam, and Magam Handwara, were pressed into service and managed to control the blaze after hours of effort.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, officials said, adding that an investigation has been initiated to determine the origin of the flames.

Local residents expressed concern over the extensive damage and have urged the administration to provide immediate compensation and relief to the affected families.
