Srinagar, Jan 16: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a charge sheet against two residents of Karnataka for allegedly duping a complainant of Rs 13 lakh on the pretext of securing an MBBS seat for his son.
Officials said the accused conspired to carry out the fraudulent scheme and failed to deliver on their promise of medical admission.
According to an official statement, the EOW has filed a charge sheet in FIR No. 10/2024 under Sections 420 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code before the Court of Sub-Judge, Baramulla. The accused have been identified as Aquib Javeed, son of Mohd Ayoub, and Mohd Ahtesham Ahmad, son of Mohd Ayoub, both residents of Ring Road, Adarsh Nagar, Gulbarga in Kalaburagi district of Karnataka.
The case originated from a written complaint in which the complainant alleged that he was approached by one Dr Shamsu-Din, working at Al-Amin Medical College, Bijapur, Karnataka. The complainant was assured that an MBBS admission for his son would be arranged through accused Aquib Javeed. Acting on this assurance, the complainant paid an amount of Rs 13 lakh.
However, the complainant alleged that neither was his son granted admission to any medical college nor was the money returned.
Following receipt of the complaint, a detailed investigation was carried out by the Economic Offences Wing.
