EOW Files Chargesheet Against Four Accused in Multi-Lakh Land Fraud Case

Srinagar, December 10: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet in FIR No. 18/2025 under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471, 201, and 120-B of the IPC before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, against four individuals involved in a major land fraud case.

According to CBK, the chargesheet has been filed against Shabir Ahmad Ganie, Bashir Ahmad Ganie, Javeed Ahmad Hakak (then Pathwari), and another Pathwari who is now deceased, for their alleged involvement in preparing and using fake land documents to deceive unsuspecting buyers.

The case began after several victims jointly lodged a complaint stating they had purchased 8 Kanals of land through brokers. Of the total, 4 Kanals were shown transferred in the name of one complainant under Khasra No. 92, 2 Kanals in the name of another under Khasra No. 99, and the remaining 2 Kanals in the name of the father of a third complainant.

Despite these claimed transfers, no valid documents were ever provided. Verification later showed that the mutation numbers given by the brokers were forged.

During the investigation at Police Station EOW Srinagar, it was found that the accused had acted together to create fake land documents and misled the complainants into believing the transactions were genuine. They collected Rs. 25 lakhs from the victims, causing significant financial loss.

The investigation established prima facie evidence of cheating, forgery, destruction of evidence, and criminal conspiracy. The chargesheet has been submitted to the court for further judicial proceedings.

The EOW said it remains committed to safeguarding citizens from economic offences and ensuring justice through professional and thorough investigations.
