Encounter Underway in Kulgam’s Guddar Forest

Kulgam, Sept 08: A gunfight broke out between terrorists and security forces in the Guddar forest area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday, officials said.

An official stated that the encounter began after a joint team of Police, Army’s 9 RR, and CRPF launched a search operation based on inputs about terrorist movement in the area.

“As the forces neared the suspected location, the hiding terrorists opened fire, which was retaliated, leading to an encounter,” the official said.

He added that the exchange of fire was still underway when reports last came in, while additional reinforcements have been rushed to the spot. Further details are awaited.
