Dr. Satwant’s book placed on PU library shelf
The Panjab University (PU) Chandigarh library has now placed on the shelf Dr. Satwant Singh Rissam’s book ‘Pen Stand’. It is a moment of pride for the entire Sikh community of J&K that Jammu based columnist, journalist and heritage conservationist Dr. Satwant’s book is now present in “A.C. Joshi Library” of Panjab University. The library was inaugurated in 1963 by the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. The library has a collection of over 8 lac publications which include books, bound volumes of journals, theses/dissertations, rare books, reports, government documents, back files of newspapers, and a prized collection of 1492 manuscripts.
It is pertinent to mention here that previously ‘Pen Stand’ was also placed in the libraries of the Department of Law, Department of Political Science in the University of Jammu and Sri Guru Ram Das Library managed by Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC), Amritsar. The book continues to receive recognition and has widely been appreciated by readers for its approach to describing issues concerning Jammu and Kashmir with special emphasis on their resolutions. In 2022, โPen Standโ was released and is a collection of 101 articles written by Dr. Rissam between 2011 and 2021 which have appeared in the columns of leading newspapers and various news media platforms of J&K. ‘Pen Stand’ is even available on Amazon in India.
