DLSA Samba organises awareness event on World Human Rights Day

SAMBA, DECEMBER 11: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Samba under the patronage of the Executive Chairman J&K Legal Services Authority, Member Secretary, J&K Legal Services Authority and the Chairman DLSA organized a programme to commemorate World Human Rights Day at Dogra Law College Bari Brahmana.
The programme was hosted with the aim of enhancing awareness among law students about human rights and encouraging their participation in promoting justice, equality and legal empowerment.
Key objectives included sensitizing students about the constitutional and legal framework protecting human rights in India, highlighting the role of legal services institutions in providing free legal aid and safeguarding the rights of vulnerable and marginalized communities, promoting youth engagement in advancing human rights and access to justice.
The event was attended by Assma Choudhary, Secretary DLSA Samba; Deputy LADC, Suman Bhagat (Resource Person); Assistant LADC, Versha Anthal (Resource Person); members of the Governing Committee of Dogra Law College including R.S. Katal, Dr. Samar Dev Singh Charak and Khushali Bashisht along with faculty members, law students and PLVs of Samba.
The Secretary DLSA delivered a keynote address focusing on constitutional guarantees enshrined in III and Part IV, emphasizing dignity, liberty, equality and justice. She also highlighted the crucial role of Legal Services Authorities in spreading legal awareness, providing free legal aid, organizing Lok Adalats and ensuring access to justice for weaker sections of society.
An interactive session followed, during which students actively participated and raised thoughtful questions on human rights and legal aid mechanisms.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks to the faculty and administration of Dogra Law College for their cooperation. The Secretary appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the students and reaffirmed DLSA Samba’s commitment to organising similar awareness initiatives.
A key highlight was the announcement of an internship programme with DLSA Samba, offering students hands-on exposure to legal aid processes, participation in outreach programmes and interaction with panel lawyers and beneficiaries. The offer received an encouraging response from the students.
