DLSA Ganderbal & TLSC Gbl organizes awareness program on ‘Consumer Protection and Legal Remedies’

GANDERBAL, AUGUST 22: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal in coordination with the Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Ganderbal organized awareness program on ‘Consumer Protection and Legal Remedies’ today at Qamaria Model Educational Institute, Ganderbal.
The event aimed to empower students with a comprehensive understanding of consumer rights and provide insights into seeking legal recourse in cases of exploitation. Furthermore, program highlighted the pivotal role of Legal Services Authorities in offering assistance, guidance, and support to consumers in consumer-related matters.
The event was organised under the leadership of Abdul Nasir, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Ganderbal.
Burjeena Hameed, Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel (ALADC), delivered a detailed speech on the importance of consumer protection in safeguarding people from unfair trade practices, defective goods, and deficient services.
She highlighted the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, including the establishment of Consumer Commissions at various levels. She stated that consumer protection is a vital aspect of any society, ensuring that individuals can make purchases and engage in services with confidence that their rights are safeguarded.
She emphasized that the legal remedies available through consumer forums are designed to protect consumers from exploitation and unfair practices, ultimately empowering them with knowledge of their rights and responsibilities.
