Department of Social Forestry, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board organise training programme

JAMMU, JULY 07: Department of Social Forestry and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board organised a three-day training programme for the field staff of forest nurseries at Kunia Training Complex at Katra.

Forty two officials from different Social Forestry Divisions of Jammu Region participated in the training programme. The objective of the programme was to sensitise the nursery staff of Social Forestry Department on various aspects of modern nursery like site selection, collection of good quality seed, preparation of beds including beds for mother plants, potting mixture, application of fertilizers, insecticides etc, transportation of plants from nursery among others.

The training programme included group discussions, field visits and exposure to modern practices of nursery raising and maintenance.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Department of Social Forestry, J&K is one of the major partners in afforestation initiatives in J&K. The initiatives include Green Drive, Har Gaon  Haryali and Van se Jal, Jal se Jivan.
