UDHAMPUR, MARCH 29: District Development Commissioner, Krittika Jyotsna conducted a tour of Udhampur town to inspect the ongoing execution works of the Devika Project today.

During the tour, the DDC visited various locations in the interior of the city to get a first-hand report on the progress of works. The Executive Engineer informed her that the sewer network of the project is nearing completion and that all major sewer lines have been laid. Work on laying sewer lanes and their offshoots is ongoing along with household connections in Zone 2 and 3.

It was informed that the work of laying major sewer lines along both banks of Holy River Devika has been completed. In addition to laying the sewer network, 2 Sewerage Treatment Plants and 8 Intermediate Pumping Stations were also completed in the last 10-11 months.

Out of the balance project work, STP-1 which is part of Zone-1 will be commissioned by July 15 and IPS-8 which is part of Zone-3 will be functional by May 2023. Household connections in Zone-2 and Zone-3 have already started and so far, 200 connections have been completed. Household connections in Zone-1 will start from the first week of July on the eve of commissioning STP-1.

The DDC was informed that the remaining work of the Devika Project will be executed as per the timelines of micro planning and is being monitored on a daily/weekly basis by UEED and PMC.

The UEED Executive Engineer informed her that restoration work by way of bituminous tarmac is pending for 4 km and cement concrete tiles for 1.5 km. This work has been taken up by subcontractors and is scheduled to be completed by April 30.

While inspecting the remaining works, Jyotsna asked the executing agency to gear up men and machinery to complete the ongoing works within the stipulated time frame. She stressed on inter-departmental coordination for smooth execution of their respective plans, especially the restoration works, to minimise inconvenience to the general public and save time and resources.

The DDC was accompanied by the UEED Executive Engineer, other field Engineers of UEED, Project Management Consultant and subcontractors.
