DDC Reasi convenes public grievances redressal camp at Aspirational Block Thakrakote

REASI, DECEMBER 17: District Development Commissioner Reasi Nidhi Malik today conducted a public grievance redressal camp at Community Hall- Thakrakote under the Aspirational Block Programme. The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents, who raised several developmental and public welfare related issues.
The camp was attended by ADDC Sukhdev Singh Samyal; CAHO, DSHO, Executive Engineers of various departments, Tehsildar Thakrakote, Block Development Officer and other district and sectoral officers.
During the interaction, the public highlighted concerns related to transport connectivity, mobile network coverage, road construction and upgradation, shortage of staff in educational and health institutions, power supply and other civic amenities.
Key demands included construction of a Niabat building, commencement of transport services between Pouni and Matta, construction of a bridge on the Pouni–Dhakikot road and release of pending land compensation under PMGSY.
The locals also sought strengthening of education, healthcare, infrastructure and creation of livelihood opportunities.
Major demands included upgradation of Middle Schools Thakrakote and Matah to High Schools, construction of an ISM building at Jindh, deployment of an allopathic doctor with ambulance facilities at PHC Thakrakote, functioning of the Animal Husbandry Hospital, establishment of a horticulture nursery, completion of lift irrigation schemes and opening of bank branches at Panassa and Thakrakote.
Issues related to power supply and connectivity were prominently raised, with demands to connect Thakrakote block to the Panassa Grid Station and to expedite PMGSY projects, including the 1.5 km Arnas–Kanota road and the Mari–Dhakikot road. Residents also called for establishment of tailoring and knitting centres to promote skill development and livelihood generation.
The DDC directed the concerned officers to facilitate on-the-spot redressal wherever possible and apprised the public of the status of ongoing and proposed works.
Regarding PMGSY projects, the officials informed that the design of the Pouni–Dhakikot bridge has been submitted for approval and work would commence upon clearance. Responding to land compensation demand, the DDC informed that the second installment would be released immediately upon receipt of funds.
The DDC directed preparation of proposals to address staff shortage and emphasized regular conduct of sports activities in schools.
The Flood Control and Irrigation Department informed that lift irrigation works were stalled due to financial constraints. The DDC directed the department to resume works once funds are made available.
The DDC instructed the departments to accelerate developmental works in Aspirational Block Thakrakote and directed the PWD to conduct road surveys in consultation with local residents. She also directed the Animal and Sheep Husbandry Departments to deploy veterinary doctors on an alternate-day basis.
The DDC informed that a proposal for opening of a J&K Bank branch at Thakrakote has already been submitted and is expected to materialize soon. She further urged the public to register on the Jan Sugam portal to avail benefits under various government schemes and financial inclusion initiatives.
The grievance redressal camp reaffirmed the district administration’s commitment to participatory governance and to addressing public grievances in a time-bound and effective manner.
