SRINAGAR MARCH 27: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo on Friday chaired a comprehensive review meeting at the Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex to assess the department-wise and bank-wise progress in implementation of the Mission Yuva scheme in the District.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Rifat Aftab, Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mir Imtiyaz Ul Aziz, Chief Planning Officer, Fayaz Ahmad Dar, SDM East, Zubair Ahmad, Deputy Director Employment, Shubi Tabasum, Zonal Head Jammu and Kashmir Bank, LDM(Banks), Officers of all line Departments and senior Officers of J&K Bank.
During the meeting, the DC took a comprehensive review of the status of applications received, sanctioned and disbursed under the scheme and detailed discussions were held on further streamlining the process to ensure wider outreach and timely benefit to aspiring young entrepreneurs across the District.
Emphasizing the significance of the Mission YUVA initiative, the Deputy Commissioner stated that the scheme remains a top priority of the Government, aimed at empowering youth through entrepreneurship, self-employment opportunities, and the development of a vibrant startup ecosystem.
On the occasion, the DC emphasized the significance of the Mission YUVA scheme which is aimed at empowering youth through entrepreneurship, self-employment opportunities and the development of a vibrant start up ecosystem. He stressed the need for expeditious processing of applications, prompt loan sanctioning and swift disbursement by the Banks to eligible beneficiaries.
The DC directed all implementing agencies, banks and line departments to work in close coordination and maintain sustained momentum to achieve the intended objectives of the scheme. He further underscored the importance of establishing robust monitoring mechanisms to track progress and ensure transparency and accountability at every stage of implementation.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed bank authorities to further enhance their performance and clear pendency on priority. He emphasized bridging the gap between cases approved by the District Level Implementation Committee (DLIC) and actual loan sanctioning under the scheme.
He also stressed the importance of developing mentor enterprises to provide guidance, financial support and market linkages to young entrepreneurs. He urged all stakeholders to give priority focus to Mission YUVA to foster entrepreneurship, generate sustainable livelihood opportunities and drive economic growth in Srinagar.
The DC further emphasized the need to ensure that Small Business Development Units (SBDUs) and Block Handholding Desks (BHDs) are made fully functional at the earliest. He also directed that Motivators and other functionaries be onboarded in a time-bound manner to facilitate smooth and effective implementation of the Mission YUVA scheme across the district.
Stressing the importance of expanding outreach, the DC instructed the concerned departments to further intensify Udyam Jagriti initiatives in colleges and among Self Help Groups (SHGs). He underscored that aspiring entrepreneurs must be provided with adequate mentoring, counselling and handholding support to enable them to transform their ideas into sustainable and viable enterprises.
