#DC reviews rural development scenario in #Kathua

Calls for generating maximum mandays by convergence of schemes with MGNREGA

KATHUA, MAY 13: Deputy Commissioner Rahul Pandey today reviewed Status of different schemes and programmes of Rural Development & Panchayat Raj Department here in the Conference Hall of DC Office complex.

At the outset, Assistant Commissioner Development, Kishore Singh Katoch presented the rural development profile of the district and also highlighted the progress recorded under different schemes and programmes being implemented by the RD&PR Department.

The DC was apprised about the achievements made so far besides the status of ongoing works which are expected to be completed in the current fiscal year.

The DC emphasized on taking on board all the stakeholders so as to bring transformation and qualitative change in the rural landscape of the district.

While interacting with BDOs, the DC called for creative and optimum utilization of funds available under different schemes to benefit the last mile user. He also stressed upon saturation of Aadhaar Seeding of the left out beneficiaries.

The DC further advised the BDOs to explore the feasibility of shifting the office from private accommodation to abandoned government buildings in case they are available in their vicinity.

Terming MGNREGA as a game changer in rural employment scenario, the DC asked for taking up works in convergence mode with it to create wage employment and rural assets.

While reviewing the functioning of NRLM, the DC laid thrust on facilitating value addition and market linkage for the local products with intrinsic value. “Such facilities are bound to provide sustainable source of income to the Women SHGs, ” the DC added.

The DC also enjoined upon the officers to focus on time bound redress of the grievances raised by the people and to devise a mechanism to submit the Action Taken Reports to his office on regular basis.
