DC Poonch reviews works under Mission Amrit Sarovar
POONCH, JULY 09: To review progress on the implementation of Mission Amrit Sarovar, the District Level Committee met under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Inder Jeet at district headquarters, here today.
Implementation of Mission Amrit Sarovar by the concerned departments in the district in identifying springs and ponds for development and rejuvenation was assessed by the DC during the meeting.
The mission is aimed at developing and rejuvenating water bodies by August 15, 2023, as part of the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations.
The Deputy Commissioner was apprised that about 86 springs and ponds have been identified by RDD, I&FC, Soil Conservation and Forest Departments in the district and the process of exploring more sites is going on to achieve the targets.
The DC asked the officers of the concerned departments to finalise the action plan so that execution of work is taken up for their rejuvenation and preservation at the earliest. He underlined that ‘Amrit Sarovars’ would play an important role in rejuvenating water resources.
The meeting was attended by Divisional Forest Officer (T), Assistant Commissioner Development, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, XEN I&FC and other concerned officers.
