DC Kulgam reviews LSD control measures
Impresses upon Officers to focus on Vaccination of animals
KULGAM, OCTOBER 23: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat today chaired a meeting of officers to review the measures taken to combat the spread of Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) in the district.
The DC reviewed measures being taken in the district to control the spread of the LSD, a viral Disease. He also enquired about the steps taken for identification of the infected animals, death rate, progress in vaccination and medication besides availability of the medicines in the district.
The Officers of the Animal Husbandry department informed the chair that Rapid response teams and the other Officials are visiting door to door to impart awareness among the cattle rearing population in the district.
They also informed that available Medicines are being provided to the farmers which are available.
Regarding the identification of the animal infected with the LSD, the officer informed the chair that a survey has been conducted and infected animals have been identified.
The DC asked the department to disseminate information about the District cells and sub-divisional cells constituted to provide assistance to the public in connection with the LSD.
He further stressed on ring vaccination of all uninfected cattle followed by the mass vaccination.
Giving details, the CAHO informed that a total of 1944 animals are affected due to this disease and all these animals were treated/ attended to by the concerned. He said 1140 animals have recovered so- far while as district recorded 111 deaths and there are 693 active cases of infection at present.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Additional Development Commissioner, Chief Planning Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, District Sheep Husbandry Officer and other officers
