DC Kulgam chairs District Level Bankers Seminar
KULGAM, JUNE 10: With a motive to apprise Bankers and stakeholders about credit needs under various government schemes in the agriculture sector, a District Level Bankers Seminar was held today at Conference Hall, Kulgam under Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) by the Agriculture Production Department.
The seminar was chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat in presence of Visiting Officer, Director, Fisheries (MD, HADP), Farooq Ahmad Dar, ADDC Kulgam, Showkat Ahmad Rather and mammoth gathering of stakeholders.
District heads of agri- allied departments, banks, large numbers of farmers, FPOs, heads of financial institutions besides functionaries of concerned departments were present in the seminar.
At the outset, DC Kulgam and Director, Fisheries released a booklet on ‘Agriculture Credit Linked Schemes’ which were distributed among all the participants containing necessary information regarding all agriculture credit schemes.
ADDC Kulgam presented the keynote address at the Seminar and spoke on the importance of credit availability for accelerating agricultural production.
Director Fisheries while speaking on the occasion emphasized upon the need of increasing contribution of agriculture to GDP by making necessary interventions in pre and post harvest management strategies.
Deputy Commissioner spoke at length about making hassle free availability of credit to farming families and Farmer organisations across the district.
He stressed upon banks to ensure maximum, hassle free credit availability to agriculture and allied sectors across Kulgam district which has huge untapped potential and asked for immediate removal of bottlenecks in credit flow to farmers.
He expressed hope that the seminar will apprise departmental officers and officials about operational requirements and banking procedures, so as to ensure effective communication of banking norms to farmers for hassle free credit processing.
During the day-long seminar, through powerpoint presentation, District Development Manager, Rouf Ahmad apprised all stakeholders about available various agriculture credit linked schemes of the government and called for using the acquired knowledge for the larger interests of increasing agricultural produce and income across the district.
